Game 11 - Pink Sox

Game 10 - Brew Crew
L (18-19)

Another well played game.  Great Fielding, Good hitting (most innings).  We almost beat the 2nd place team, even with being down a man.  This summer let's turn all these "almost" wins into a championship run.  Latest news on Will is that he's just got a really nice sprain, nothing broken.  Maybe he'll be back with us this summer.

Standings have finally been updated, We're in a 3 way tie for 5th.  We've beaten the other 5th place teams, so at least were at the top of that list.  A win against the Pink Sox will be purely to avenge our earlier loss. I'll update stats soon.

Game 9 - Pink Sox
L (3-15)

Tough game. We should have beaten them, but they were hitting and we weren't. We were able to squeeze a few runs out with some sacs, but they had a great first inning, scoring 8, and we couldn't catchup. Our fielding was decent, they were just hitting everything in the gaps.
Mike and BJ carried us, getting on base everytime they got up. In fact, BJ has been steadily climbing the Batting Ranks, and is now the top active player. We've definitely got to improve our hitting as a team for the next 2 games. We've got Brew Crew and another shot at the Pink Sox coming up. Let's play them like we played Liberty and the Rookies.

Game 8 - Rookies
 L (4-5) 

Man, that was a hard game to lose. But we played a game to be proud of.  Here's the rundown.  To start, we were missing our top 3 hitters, Jarrod, Chad and Hugh, and we were playing a team that we got 2 hits and 0 runs against the first time we played them, getting the mercy rule in the 4th.

With that being said, we played like a top ranked team.  Jeremy had the gold glove in the outfield, with 3 catches that should have been hits for the Rooks.  Phil had yet another on the fence catch in foul territory, and Schirm pitched a great game and made some great plays.  Our defense was almost flawless, we definitely didn't give them any opportunities.  If we had been able to string together some more hits at the plate, we would have won hands down.

The game played out like this: we  were visitors (of course), and held them to no runs until the 3rd, while we managed to get 1 in the 1st.  They went up 2-1 in the third, but we answered with 3 runs in the 4th making it 4-2. We had them by 1 run (4-3) going into their last at bat in the 7th.  We got 2 quick outs, but they managed to get 2 guys on base, then hit a walk-off double deep into center field to steal the win.

After the game, the umpire came to me to tell me we played an incredible game, and that no one has held the Rooks to less than 10 runs.  Even the league manager congratulated us on the game.  If we continue playing this well together, we will be in the tournament this season (top 3 teams go).

Game 7 - Gold Kist
 W 15-5

Another solid game.  Took us a couple innings to get our hits going, but our defense was great, almost flawless. 

Highlights :
- Phil's 1-2-3 inning
- Jarrod's over-the-head catch at SS, followed by a bare-handed encore.
-  Stephen with a great catch on the run in LF. 
-Allen putting 5 guys in the outfield in the 1st inning
- one bad-call overturned on a tag-up  at 1st, Jarrod making the play.

I've finally gotten an update on standings.  We're in a 4 way tie for 3rd. We've beaten Cox, and lost to Brew crew, and haven't played Pink Sox yet. 

If we can pull out a win vs the undefeated Rookies next week, we could move into 2nd.  We are a MUCH stronger team than when we played them the first week.  I'm sure they will come into the game feeling cocky, let's take advantage of that and give them a good rematch.

Game 5 - Cox
 W 18-17

Great game guys, solid all around.  Good hitting, especially in the clutch.  Way to keep us alive Harper by hitting us into a tie.  Great catch to stop them, Will.  Good diving catch in foul territory, Phil.  Everybody had hot bats, way to go 2/2 Stephen.

This was our first Home game, so we had a chance to answer back every inning.  The first 2 innings, we matched them run for run, then they opened up on is in the 3rd sending it to 17-11.  We came back in the 6th and final regulation inning, with Harper getting the tieing RBI.  In the extra inning, we held them scoreless, then we loaded the bases up and won with a shot to left center by the author ;-) .

I feel like we've settled in together as a team, our fielding is much more solid, and our bats are improving every game.  I'm looking forward to our next game.

Game 4 - Dean's Team
L 11-23

Another good game, best we've had so far.  We matched them point for point until the last inning when their bats ignited.  Much more solid in the infield, good hitting (Jarrod with the first HR of the season) great outfield.  Stats are posted to the right.

Game 3 - Brew Crew
L 11-19

We're off to a rough start, but Game 2 was definitely an improvement over Game 1.  We've got a lot of new players,so we're just finding our groove.

The Brew Crew had 1 good inning, we were even with them the rest of the game.  We had a strong top of the lineup, with Jeremy, Hugh, Will, and Tim going 10/16 combined, and lots of extra bases.  We need to clean up our infield execution, make some plays, and keep hitting like we have been.
